Nasarawa State Government to Prioritize Welfare of Persons with Disability

Nasarawa State Government says it will continue to accord priority to the welfare of persons with disability and vulnerable people in the state.

Commissioner for Special Duties on Humanitarian Services and NGO’s, Princess Margaret Elayo gave the assurance at the inauguration of a newly constructed building of eight rooms and a borehole at the home for the blind in kilema Lafia.

Princess Margaret Elayo said the newly constructed rooms and borehole for the blind followed their earlier visit to donate parliative to them after which she intimate the governor on their living condition.

The Commissioner for Special Duties on Humanitarian Services, Princess Margaret Elayo while handing over keys of the building to leader of the blind , appealed to civil societies and wealthy individuals to always assist people with special needs and vulnerable members of the society to give them a sense of belonging.

Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Abubakar Imam Zanwa and the Representative of the Emir of Lafia,Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Agwai the second commended the giant stride of Governor Abdullahi Sule and the Humanitarian Commissioner for giving the blind a healthy and conducive environment to stay and water supply.

Contractor of the project, Abdullahi Abdulmajid,urged the blind to maintain the structure for generation to come to benefit.

Leader of the blind, popularly known as Sarkin Makafe,Mallam Bala Danladi described the Humanitarian Commissioner as a God sent for always coming to aid .

Mallam Danladi commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for approving the project and making them benefit from dividend of democracy.

Highlight of the event was handing over of keys of the rooms and the borehole to leader of the blind..
