ECCAI Distributes Relief Materials to Umogidi Community

In a bid to alleviate the suffering of victims of violent attacks, the Environment and Climate Change Amelioration Initiative (ECCAI), with support from the Government of Ireland and Irish Aid, has distributed relief materials worth thousands of naira to members of the Umogidi community in Entekpa Ward, Otukpo Local Government Area.
The relief items, which include rice, maize, semovita, cooking oil, and beans, were handed over to the beneficiaries in a ceremony attended by local government officials and traditional leaders. ECCAI’s Executive Director, Mrs. Victoria Esa, expressed sadness over the unprovoked attacks on the community’s farmland and hoped that the gesture would bring some comfort to the villagers.

Mrs. Esa revealed that the decision to support the community was made after an assessment visit earlier in the year, during which she witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of the violent attacks.
The Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Mr. Maxwell Ogiri, represented by Councilor Otalu Musa, thanked ECCAI and the Government of Ireland for their intervention, assuring that the relief materials would be distributed equitably.
The traditional leader of Umogidi, Chief Alade Hausa, expressed gratitude for the support and appealed to kind-hearted individuals to come to their aid. Beneficiaries Edache Akoche and Anyaole Eje appreciated the humanitarian team for their assistance, noting that it would help make them comfortable, especially since they were unable to farm this year.
