NAF Pledges Accountability Amid Reports of Civilian Casualties

The Nigerian Airforce (NAF) has expressed deep concern over reports alleging civilian casualties during recent airstrikes in Tungar Kara, Zurmi Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

In a statement issued by Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information, the NAF emphasized its commitment to protecting the lives of all Nigerians while carrying out its duties as a professional and responsible custodian of airpower.

The statement assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to verify the claims of civilian casualties, with findings to be transparently communicated to the public.

“Our mission in the North-West is clear—to combat banditry and restore peace. However, the safety and well-being of all Nigerians remain paramount,” the statement read.

The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant authorities to uncover the truth, take corrective measures, and continue minimizing harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure during operations.

This response underscores the force’s resolve to uphold accountability and prioritize human lives amidst its ongoing campaign against insecurity in the region.
