In his remarks, the Nigeria representative of the United States Agency for Global Media and the coordinator of the training, Sani Mohammad welcomed participants, highlighting the importance of adapting to technological advancements in media practice.
He stressed that as journalism continues to evolve, embracing AI tools will enhance news gathering, fact-checking, and content creation processes.
Delivering a keynote address, the lead facilitator, Mr. Celestine Achi underscored the significance of AI in journalism, noting that the technology has been in existence since the 1950s.
He elaborated on how AI-powered tools can streamline news production, from automating transcription to improving audience engagement.
Achi also provided insights into crafting effective AI prompts to receive accurate and relevant outputs when utilizing AI systems for content generation.
Another facilitator, Yemi Orimolade, introduced participants to various AI-powered platforms specifically designed for journalism and its applications.
He explained how these sites can enhance research, generate high-quality news content, and assist in fact-checking, thereby improving the accuracy and credibility of reports.
