Gov Sule Vows to Support Sports in FULAFIA

Nasarawa State Government has pledged to work closely with the Federal University of Lafia to advance the development sport in the institution for students to showcase their talents and potentials.
Governor Abdullahi Sule made the pledge at the finals of the football match between Faculties of Science and Social Science at the 10th Edition of FULAFIA lnter Faculty Games played at the University Sport Complex.
Faculty of Social Science retained the Football Trophy after defeating Faculty of Science 5-4 on penalties.
This 10th Edition of the inter Faculty Games of the Federal University of Lafia saw the students taking part in various indoor Track and Field Events such as Football, Volleyball, Scrabble Chess, Tennis, Badminton, among other sporting activities.
Faculty of Social Science emerged overall winners of the four day sporting events with Six Gold,Three silver and two Bronze medals with Faculty of Computing science emerging second with 3Gold, 4Silver and 2Bronze, while Faculty of Science clinched 2Gold,4Silver and 2Bronze medals.
Governor Abdullahi Sule represented by the Permanent Secretary State Ministry of Youth and Sport Development, Doctor lbrahim Adamu Alhassan congratulated the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Shehu Abdulrahman and his Management for Organising the annual competition assuring him that, the State government would continue to support the institution in sport development.
Governor Abdullahi Sule lauded the students for exhibiting the spirit of sportsmanship during games.
Vice Chancellor Federal University of Lafia, Professor Shehu Abdulrahman described sport as profitable to health, stressing that the games has created positive interaction among the students.
Chairman, Sport Committee, Professor Victor Duggar emphasized that this year’s lnter Faculty Games is an opportunity for the institution to identify and select sport men and women who will represent the institution at the forth coming Nigeria University Games NUGA Zonal qualifiers and the main Games in Jos later this year.
Adaji from the faculty of Social Science won the best Volleyball Male player with Chioma Agbo clinching the Women award, while in Football, Benjamin Audu and Emmanuel Ogbonna of Social Science received the Best Goalkeeper and Most Valuable Player awards, while the Highest Goal scorer award was picked by Anton Paulinus of the College of Medicine.
