Abducted Afenifere Youth Leader, Olajuni released

Eniola Olajuni, the National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, has been set free after spending 12 days in the custody of his abductors.
His release was confirmed on Saturday by the National Secretary of the Youth Council, Biodun Aderohunmu, in a brief WhatsApp message to reporters, simply stating, “He has been released.”
In a viral video, Olajuni also confirmed the news, saying, “I have been released.”
Olajuni was kidnapped on Monday, February 17, as he was traveling to Abuja for a meeting.
His abductors initially demanded a ransom of N100 million and two tricycles for his release, leading to widespread concern and calls for urgent intervention.
The situation gained national attention after a disturbing video surfaced online, showing Olajuni at gunpoint, pleading with Nigerians to raise funds for his freedom. The video triggered public outrage and intensified pressure on authorities to act swiftly.
Following the viral footage, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team to secure Olajuni’s safe release.
It’s not clear whether a ransom was paid before he was freed.
