Nasarawa police intercept, recover robbery vehicle

The Nasarawa State Police Command has foiled a robbery and kidnapping incident and recovered a vehicle at Kurudu in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
SP Rahman Nansel, the state Police Public Relations Officer, said in a statement that a distress call was received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, that the suspects were en route the Keffi- Akwanga Road.
Acting on the information, the commissioner of police directed the Garaku Divisional Police Officer to set up a checkpoint at the Tollgate after which the stolen white-coloured Lexus Jeep, with registration number ABJ 107 DX, matching the description given, was recovered.
Upon sighting the police, the “criminals attempted to evade capture by reversing the vehicle” but the officers acted decisively by disabling its tyres, the statement explained.
It also said the culprits abandoned the vehicle and escaped into a nearby bush.
Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command has confirmed that the victim, a woman has been safely located after she was abandoned by the kidnappers who made away with her vehicle.
