Nasarawa Commissioner Urges Women to Stay Hopeful, Highlights Empowerment and Gender Equality on International Women’s Day

The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Humanitarian Services, Princess Margaret Elayo, has called on women to remain hopeful despite the challenges they face.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lafia to mark International Women’s Day, she emphasized the significance of the annual celebration, held every March 8, to recognize women’s achievements and highlight their ongoing struggles worldwide.
Princess Elayo stressed that women play a crucial role in societal development, making their empowerment essential for sustainable progress. She reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to tackling Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable.
She also assured that vulnerable women would be equipped with various skills to help them contribute meaningfully to the state and the country at large.
The Commissioner urged women to take decisive steps in advancing their rights, particularly in education, politics, and skills acquisition.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme is “Accelerate Action.”
